Outreach Club members had the opportunity to attend the Rotary Club of Erie’s weekly meeting yesterday to share club updates and receive a check that helped pay for our Operation Christmas Child service project. Students were able to talk with members and experienced the benefit of being connected with the Rotary Club and Kiwanis Club to have better connections to serving our community. #Prep #Community

Congratulations to Noah Handzel ’24. He has committed to play Division I soccer next season at Bucknell University on scholarship. Handzel was Prep's leading scorer the last two seasons and scored the overtime winner to send his team to the state championship. • Varsity hockey fell to Peters Township, 6-0. 🏒
Last week, ten students began their monthly visits to the Barber National Institute to work with the students there! The first visit was for their Valentine’s Day dance, where students with the high school students got to participate in a “getting to know you” activity followed by a dance. Students with the younger students were able to do a craft and play bingo. We’re looking forward to our visit in March and we’re grateful to the Barber Center for this opportunity! #Prep #Community
Cathedral Prep Holiday Weekend Athletics Roundup:
• Five wrestlers took home gold in the D-10 AAA Individual Wrestling Championship. Congratulations to Aiden Carter (107), Keagan Oler (127), Brandon Byrd (152), Bo Martucci (160), and Corey Kowalski (189), who all advanced to the Northwest Region AAA Tournament with their championship victories. Amir Johnson (121), Andrew Gammon (133), Jaden Crockett (172) and Max Spaulding (215) all took second, while Will English (114), Gabe Dorman (145) and Alex Hagerty (285) all placed third. They also advanced to the Region Tournament with their finishes. Overall, the Ramblers finished first with 215 points by the end of the meet, 16 points better than second place Meadville. Congratulations to all! 🤼♂️🏆
• Boys basketball finished 2-1 over the weekend. Varsity completed the season sweep of McDowell with a 62-54 win. Derek Galla finished with 18 points and six rebounds. Amaree Pickens had 11 points and seven rebounds, while Spencer Kanne had nine points. JV dropped their matchup to the Trojans, 69-50, while the freshmen defeated Slippery Rock, 61-33. 🏀

• Girls basketball swept General McLane. Varsity finished unbeaten in the Region following a 61-31 win over the Lancers. Jayden McBride had 18 to lead the Ramblers. Addie Biel finished with 17, McKenna Valone scored 10. JVs closed out their season with a 48-25 win. Grace Orlando had 14 points. Mady Brzezinski finished with 12. Brooklyn DiRaimo added nine. 🏀

Today, our school community united with the church throughout the world to begin the holy season of Lent. Fr. Jason reminded us that we have three invitations from our Lord: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. The invitations allow us to know him and one another anew. • Boys basketball finished 1-2 on the night. Varsity picked up a 62-37 win over Harbor Creek on Senior Night. Amaree Pickens had 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Ramblers. Derek Galla had 12 points, while RJ Roberts and Nando Mirarchi each had 10. JVs lost to the Huskies, 57-47, while freshmen fell at Brookville, 51-33. 🏀

A&EPath and BizPath students paid a visit to Finish Thompson, Inc. yesterday. Owner Casey Bowes ’94 gave a presentation on the company and spoke about the different roles engineers play in the business. Students then got a guided tour of the factory floor and saw various stages of production, as well as an assortment of different machines and processes. • Girls swimming & diving finished unbeaten in the Region with their 120-64 win over Warren. Maria Costa and Kendal Johnston each won four events. Triple winners included Jaslene Cage and Ellie Natemeier. Josie Dufala and Ellie Brugger both won twice. 🏊♀️
• Boys swimming & diving also completed a perfect Region slate with a 113-5 win over the Dragons. Drew Brown and Owen Carson were triple winners. Colin Troutman, Adam Clark and Dan Kubiak all won a pair of events. 🏊♂️
• Girls basketball swept Harbor Creek. Varsity inched closer to a perfect Region record with a 43-28 win over the Huskies. Addie Biel had 18 points to lead the Ramblers. Members of Outreach Club filled “Blessing Bags” today for homeless members in the Erie community. 50 bags were filled with items such as water, snacks, and hand warmers and will be donated to Our Neighbors Place with the traveling homeless shelter.
Cheerleading held a Mini Camp this past Saturday! Campers joined our cheerleaders for a day of fun and practice for our boys basketball game against Harbor Creek tomorrow night! We hope to see you there cheering the Ramblers on! #Prep #Cheer 📣
Campus Ministry and the MedPath program teamed up to bring Dr. Jeffrey McGovern of AHN to speak to students about balancing their faith, personal, and professional lives. He spoke about his faith journey, the pressures of the outside world, and what brought him to be a pulmonologist in Erie, PA.

• Girls basketball split their doubleheader against Solon (OH). Varsity picked up a 60-42 victory over the state-ranked Comets. The Ramblers were able to put away the game with patient offense and stellar defense. Jayden McBride led a balanced scoring attack with 16 points, while Addie Biel and Lena Walz each added 14. Natalie Spano finished with nine points. McKenna Valone had seven points. JVs lost an intense back and forth game, 41-40. Mady Brzezinski had 18 points to lead the way. 🏀
• Boys basketball went 0-3 over the weekend. Varsity fell in overtime to Meadville, 79-72. Nando Mirarchi led the Ramblers with 20 points. Michael Thompson had 14. JVs dropped their game to the Bulldogs, 62-58, while freshmen fell to McDowell, 60-26. 🏀
• Wrestling was eliminated from the PIAA team tournament after their 43-14 loss to Connellsville. Brandon Byrd (152) and Max Spaulding (215) had falls, while Keagan Oler (127) scored a decision. 🤼♂️
Students in our GlobalPath and TechPath programs visited Gannon University yesterday. They were met at the Forensic Investigation Center (FIC) by Elizabeth Tirak ’18VMA. They opportunity to talk about applied intelligence, criminal justice, and forensic science majors with Gannon faculty members Dr. Benjamin Baughman, Dr. Jerry Clark ’78, and Dr. Theodore Yeshion. Students were treated to lunch and got a tour of the continually renovating I-HACK building, where they ran into alumnae from the VMA class of 2022 in I-HACK Maker Lab where they were creating prototypes. #Prep #GlobalPath #TechPath ⚙🌎
