On Friday, National Art Honor Society (NAHS) held their “Pies & Picasso” event in the Salata Technology & Innovation Center! Madeline Huber ’24 and Nhu Tran ’25 led the participants in the creation of a beautiful landscape painting. Nearly 60 people attended, and the NAHS raised close to $1500, which will help the club pay for their field trip to the Cleveland Museum of Art. Cathedral Prep Weekend Athletics Roundup: • Congratulations to the Girls Swimming & Diving team!! They captured their ninth straight D-10 title and are headed to Lewisburg for states! The medley relay of Maria Costa, Jaslene Cage, Ellie Natemeier and Josie Dufala took first. Costa took first in the individual medley. Ellie Brugger took third, while Brianne Ryan took fifth. Dufala won the 50 free, with Cage and Kendal Johnston taking third and fourth, respectively. Natemeier took fourth in the 100 fly. The 200 free relay of Costa, Johnston, Dufala, and Cage took first. Johnston took first in the 100 free. Dufala took fifth, while Chloe Borrero finished seventh. Natemeier took fourth in the 500 free. Costa took the 100 back, while Borrero finished second. Cage won the 100 breastroke. Brugger took second, while Ryan finished fourth. The 400 free relay of Johnston, Brugger, Borrero and Natemeier took second. Also, Maria Costa was named Outstanding Swimmer of the meet for Girls AA, an award presented by the Erie County Aquatics Hall of Fame. 🏊‍♀️ 🏆 • Congratulations to the Boys Swimming & Diving team! They made it a sweep at Spire Institute and claimed their 22nd straight D-10 title! The medley relay of Jack Raimy, Matthew Hinman, Evan Calvert and Colin Troutman took first. Callum Snider-Mills took fourth in the 200 free, while Owen Carson finished fifth. Raimy won the individual medley. Drew Brown finished second, while Ben Camera and Adam Clark finished third and fourth, respectively. Troutman took second in the 50 free. Hinman finished sixth. They are set to play Trinity in the first round of the PIAA playoffs this Saturday, March 9, at 6:00 p.m. at the Hagerty Family Events Center. Mike McCoy '66 returned home to Cathedral Prep on Monday to speak to our students. McCoy's "Mike McCoy Ministries" reaches students in Catholic schools with the message of faith, hope, and encouragement; enabling them to make better decisions in their lives. McCoy is a member of Prep's Athletic Hall of Fame, as well as Erie Hall of Fame and Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. He played his college career at Notre Dame and was the second overall pick in the 1970 NFL Draft by Green Bay. Mike went on to play 11 seasons in the NFL for the Packers, Raiders and Giants. He shared stories about his football career and life, including the struggles he faced. He spoke on perseverance and gave students examples on how to maneuver through obstacles in life. Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Tuesday, February 27: • Boys basketball picked up a 65-53 win over Dubois in the 5A subregional. Amaree Pickens and Nando Mirarchi each paced the Ramblers with 17 points, while Derek Galla had 16 rebounds. They return home this Friday for another subregional matchup against Obama Academy. 🏀 • Varsity hockey closed out their season with a 7-0 victory over Canon-MacMillan. Ethan Cunningham had a hat trick, while Chris Bruschi scored a pair of goals. Tucker Kinnear and Braydan McGarry also found the net. Tanner Ball earned the shutout in goal with 20 saves. 🏒

Mrs. Drabant’s senior English classes are beginning their “Man and Monsters” unit, where they will be reading “Frankenstein.” To review the elements of gothic stories and prepare, the read M.R. James' short story "Lost Hearts." They then recreated scenes using the Stop Motion Studio application to learn and practice. A stop motion film will be one of their project options for concluding “Frankenstein.” #Prep #English

THIS FRIDAY, National Art Honors Society will be hosting their yearly fundraiser, “Pies & Picasso.” It will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Salata Technology & Innovation Center. This fun event is where you can create a painting with the help of a step-by-step demonstration by student volunteers, as well as spend some time with friends or make some new ones. There is no skill needed to be able to enjoy this event. The canvas, paints, and any supplies needed will be provided. While painting, you are welcome to enjoy a variety of pies donated by NAHS members. Tickets are $25 per person, and this can be paid at the door. AFJROTC’s drill team ended their season with a strong showing in Parkersburg, WV this weekend. Winning several categories, they were able to take first-place overall in military drill against teams from Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. These teams were led by Alex Junkin ’24, Conor O'Brien ’24, Chris Reitz ’25, Chris Mosca ’26, Daven Weatherby ’26, and Brooke Burick ’27. Keagan Oler (127) was the lone Rambler that qualified for states with his first-place finish. He picked up the decision over Hickory’s Brady Slicker, 9-5. Amir Johnson (121), Brandon Byrd (152) and Bo Martucci (160) all placed fourth. Andrew Gammon (133) and Gabe Dorman (145) took fifth, while Max Spaulding (215) finished sixth. 🥇🤼‍♂️ • The District 10 AA Diving championships took place this weekend.
