Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Tuesday, October 10: • Girls volleyball swept their doubleheader against McDowell. On Senior Night, varsity picked up a huge 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-16) win over the Trojans. Kaylin Laird had 10 kills. Coco Speros and Olivia Hutchinson finished with eight kills each. Ellen Hutchinson had six aces, while Mackenzie Moore had nine digs. Kharhys Nickson had 6 kills. Kamryn Resurreccion had 30 assists and seven digs. JVs began the night with a 2-0 win. 🏐 • Girls cross country wrapped up the Region title with a 24-35 win over McDowell. Anne-Catherine Brown won the race with Lauren Raimy placing second. Allison Bender was sixth, while Makayla Stutts took seventh. Fina Bannister, Grace Barrett and Sarah Teed finished ninth through 11th, respectively. 👟 • Boys cross country fell to McDowell, 45-16. James Burkett finished fifth overall to lead Prep. Noah Lata took seventh, while Jeremai Pruzenski finished 10th. 👟 • Boys water polo fell to North Allegheny in a close one, 13-11. Callum Snider-Mills had six goals to lead the Ramblers. Colin Troutman had a hat trick, while Heath Kreidinger and Adam Clark also scored. Dan Kubiak made 10 saves. 🤽‍♂️ • Girls water polo also lost to North Allegheny, 12-6. Megan Cardella and McKenzie DiPlacido each scored twice, while Mia Shaughnessy and Savannah Wierzchowski also scored. Brianne Ryan made seven saves. 🤽‍♀️ • Varsity hockey lost to Bethel Park, 4-1. Tucker Kinnear scored the lone goal. Tanne Ball made 33 saves in net. 🏒

Several students participated in District 10’s Leadership/Sportsmanship Seminar held at the Hagerty Family Events Center yesterday. The seminar, which hosted 125 students from across District 10, was led by speaker Craig Hillier. Hillier has a passion to work with students, educators, and professionals, and he has spoken to over two million people since 1990. It was a great experience for our students! #Prep #Leadership

AFJROTC cadets recently enjoyed their bi-annual Fitness Day over at the Hagerty Family Events Center. The entire corps of cadets participate in the Air Force fitness test that includes the mile run, sit ups, and pushups. They also found some time to practice for the Veterans Day Parade, which begins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, at 26th & State. #Prep #AFJROTC

This past week, two Cathedral Prep alumni submitted their commitment forms to participate in the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. Ross Runstedler ’08 and Jake Scheloske ’09 each signed up for the program, which will take their Pennsylvania state tax liability and direct that money toward financial aid to support families sending their children to Cathedral Prep! Cathedral Prep Holiday Weekend Athletics Roundup: • Make it a three-peat! Congratulations to senior Anna Poranski. She claimed the District 10 AA Singles title 6-0, 6-3, over Wilmington’s Mary Matyasovsky. With her victory, she is now headed to Hershey for the state tournament. She has now won back-to-back-to-back tiles, and her victory made it the sixth year in a row that a Victor/Rambler took the girls singles tournament. Congratulations, Anna! 🎾🏆 • Girls cross country placed second at the Legends Meet at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds in Cortland, Ohio. Lauren Raimy was third overall. Allison Bender was 17th, while Makayla Stutts finished 27th. Fina Bannister finished 34th. Sarah Teed and Grace Barrett finished 42nd and 43rd, respectively, while Caitlin Dugan was 60th. In the JV girls race, Prep took third. Kendal Johnston led the way, winning the race. Sophia Swanseger was fifth, while Ginny Bowes took eighth. Samira Latouf finished 29th. Nora Cacchione took 48th and Theresa Patton was 70th. 👟 • Boys cross country took 23rd at the Legends Meet. The Ramblers were led by James Burkett, who finished 46th. Noah Lata, Jeremai Pruzenski, Nick Kupniewski and Rio Alejandro rounded out the finishers. 👟 • Boys soccer had a pair of doubleheaders over the weekend. The Ramblers first took on Mentor on Saturday. Varsity would defeat the Cardinals, 6-2. Max Johnson had two goals and two assists. Noah Handzel, Dylan Danch, Andrew Disanza and Mike McDonald also scored. JVs played to a draw, 1-1. Cam Dunbar had goal. On Monday, they faced off against rival McDowell. This time varsity played to a tie, 1-1, against the Trojans. DiSanza had the lone goal. JVs picked up a 1-0 win. ⚽ • Varsity football got back on the winning track with a 28-6 win over Benedictine (OH). The Ramblers ran for 201 yards on the ground, with 99 of those coming from Dajoure Hollingsworth. He also had a touchdown. Defensively, Ethan Seifert had a pick-six. Dan Oblich snared three interceptions, which were one off the school record. 🏈 • Girls volleyball split their doubleheader with Mercyhurst Prep. Varsity fought the Lakers to five sets, but ultimately fell, 3-2. Kaylin Laird had 14 kills. Coco Speros had 13 kills and eight digs, while Carolina Krahe added 12 kills and seven digs. Varsity fell in straight sets, 3-0, while JVs won in three sets, 2-1. 🏐 • In a low scoring matchup, Freshmen Football picked up an 8-7 victory over Benedictine (OH). 🏈 • LATE WEDNESDAY SCORES: Girls soccer picked up a sweep over Harbor Creek. Varsity earned another Region win, 3-0, over the Huskies. Rambler goals came from Olivia Dixon, Callie Cacchione and Rory Noonan. The shutout was snared by Jordan Senz. JV was also able to put one in the win column, 5-0. Shelby Abogunde had three goals. Maeve Melody added a pair. Gigi Hiner and Camryn Morschauser split the goalie duties and earned the shutout. ⚽

Cathedral Prep’s 8th Grade Honors Program students were recognized with a special breakfast ceremony this morning! Fr. Mike DeMartinis gave a blessing, and the students heard from President Kevin Smith and Vice President of Academics and Students Affairs Will Pituch ’01VMA. Then they received their Honors Program pin and Cathedral Prep school garment. The program includes about 60 students from several schools across Erie County. The tandems of Sophia Glance/Margaret Prichard and Lilli Beuchert/Sofia Falvo took doubles in straight sets. 🎾 • Boys golf took part in the District 10 AAA Team Tournament at The Country Club of Meadville. The Ramblers fell to Warren, 323-314. Cooper Wierzchowski led the way shooting a 75. Connor Laird shot a 76. ⛳

Cathedral Prep Weekend Athletics Roundup: • Girls cross country placed fourth in the Bob Bradley Premier Race at the McQuaid Jesuit Invitational in Rochester, NY. The Ramblers were led by Anne-Catherine Brown’s ninth place finish in 17:56. Lauren Raimy took 24th, while Makayla Stutts, Allison Bender and Fina Bannister finished in 37th through 39th place, respectively. JVs finished third in their race. Lilly Pinzok finished fifth overall, while Sophia Swanseger took eighth. Virginia Bowes took 12th. 👟 • Boys cross country placed 10th at the McQuaid Jesuit Invitational. James Burkett placed 23rd to lead the way. Noah Lata took 39th, while Nick Kupniewski finished 75th. 👟 • Boys water polo took part in the second weekend of the Erie Challenge, finishing 1-1. They defeated Reading, 10-9, before falling to Souderton, 14-11. Callum Snider-Mills led the way with 11 goals. Owen Carson finished with five goals, while Colin Troutman had three. The Ramblers had two teams playing on the day, along with Eisenhower, Erie High, Girard and Mercyhurst Prep. Prep-2 finished 0-2-2 on the day, falling to Mercyhurst Prep and Eisenhower before tying Erie High and Girard in pool play. Prep-1 won the tournament, 2-0, over Eisenhower after earning four pool play 2-0 victories over Erie High, Girard, Mercyhurst Prep and Prep-2. 🏐 • Football was swept by McDowell over the weekend. The Cathedral Prep Theatre Program will present their first production of the year, "Disney’s The Little Mermaid!” Performances will begin on Thursday, October 19, and conclude on Sunday, October 22. Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Monday, September 25: • Boys golf defeated McDowell, 338 to 347, in a team playoff to advance to the D-10 championship where they will meet up with Warren. The Ramblers were led by Cooper Wierzchowski's medalist score of 73. ⛳ • Boys soccer picked up a sweep over Meadville. Varsity shutout the Bulldogs, 11-0, for a Region victory. Noah Handzel had a hat trick. Brandon Lin scored a pair, while James DiSanza, Dylan Danch, Cam Dunbar, Max Johnson, Andrew Spitzer and Tyler Chermack all scored. Chermack and Jordan Moye shared the shutout in net. JVs picked up a 3-0 victory. Dunbar, Ethan Cain and Spitzer scored for the Ramblers. The shutout was shared by Moye and Breese Stoeger. ⚽ • Girls soccer dropped their doubleheader to Fort LeBoeuf. Congratulations to Jayden McBride ‘24. She has verbally committed to a full Division I basketball scholarship in the Big East Conference to Georgetown University. A four-year varsity player and three-year starter, McBride was tabbed 1st Team All-State as a junior. She averaged 16.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.3 steals per game last season. Jayden received nearly 20 Division I full offers before settling on Georgetown. #Prep #RollRamblers #StudentAthlete 🏀

GECAC’s Karen Hund stopped by campus last Friday to share a bit about the work of GECAC. She also picked up a check from the proceeds from our first dress down of the year, which will help them buy almost 100 winter coats for their upcoming winter clothing event! Proceeds were also sent to the SSJ Neighborhood Network to help restock their food pantry. #Prep #Service #Community
