This past Monday, two local businesses submitted their application forms to participate in the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program! Adrienne (Kloecker) Kalivoda ‘12VMA & Francis Kloecker ’14 of Kloecker Funeral Home & Crematory and Zach Herron ‘12VMA of Printing Concepts all stopped by to turn in their applications. By participating in the EITC Program, 100% of their Pennsylvania tax liability will be contributed to Cathedral Prep to be utilized for financial aid money to help families afford a Cathedral Prep education for their children. Yesterday, the National Art Honor Society held a pumpkin decorating event. Club members brought pumpkins and either carved or painted them. They listened to Halloween music, ate candy, and had a great time creating their pumpkin masterpieces! #Prep #NAHS 🎃

Congratulations to three Cathedral Prep show choir students who were accepted to the ACDA Eastern Conference Honor Choirs! Six show choir students submitted audition recordings pitting them against over 1200 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students from 13 states across the northeastern United States. Cathedral Prep Weekend Athletics Roundup: • Varsity football scored the game's first 38 points and downed Erie in a Region matchup, 38-8. Dajoure Hollingsworth rushed 15 times for 122 yards and a score. He also had two receptions for 64 yards and a touchdown. Suhtaun Lewis also scored. Luke Costello was 4-9 for 117 yards passing and a TD. He also ran for 63 yards and a pair of touchdowns. 🏈 • Girls cross country hosted and won the Northwest PA Cross Country Invitational at Frontier Park. The girls finished with 23 points, paced by Anne-Catherine Brown’s first place finish. Lauren Raimy was second, while Allison Bender and Makayla Stutts took fifth and sixth, respectively. Fina Bannister finished in ninth. Caitlin Dugan took 10th, while Sarah Teed took 14th. 👟 • Traveling six hours to play their rival did not deter the girls water polo team. They eliminated McDowell, 12-8, in the play-in round at Wilson HS. Mia Shaughnessy was a machine, scoring nine times. Alexis Ferrare scored twice. McKenzie DiPlacido also scored. Brianne Ryan made 10 saves. The Ramblers lost their season finale in the play-in tournament to North Allegheny, 7-4. Jaslene Cage, Ferrare, DiPlacido and Shaughnessy all scored. Ms. Kabasinski’s Physics classes participated in their “Pumpkin Drop” activity today for their unit on projectiles. Students were tasked with dropping their pumpkin from the balcony and hitting the target. From there, they had to calculate the horizontal velocity and final vertical velocity of their pumpkins. #Prep #Physics 🎃

They swept Warren, 5-0, to take the AA title. Anna Poranski, Finleigh Handzel and Paige Patsy won in singles. Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Tuesday, October 17: • Girls tennis picked up a 5-0 win over Wilmington to advance to the D-10 AAA championship on Thursday. All matches were won in straight sets. Anna Poranski. Finleigh Handzel and Paige Patsy took singles. In doubles, it was Sophia Glance/Margaret Prichard and Lilli Beuchert/Sofia Falvo getting wins for the Ramblers. 🎾 • Boys soccer picked up an 8-0 win over Corry in a varsity-only matchup. Juan Pablo Dogre Milet had a hat trick. Cam Dunbar and Anuar Elias Martin Angli each scored a pair. Logan Sauers also scored. ⚽ • Girls volleyball swept Erie High. Varsity swept the Royals, 3-0. Carolina Krahe had nine kills and five digs. Olivia Hutchinson had nine kills, while Coco Speros had eight kills. Mackenzie Moore had five digs. Kamryn Resurreccion had eight digs and 30 assists. JVs went to three sets but picked up a 2-1 victory to close out their season. 🏐 • Cooper Wierzchowski finished tied for 65th at the PIAA AAA tournament in State College. He shot a six-over 78 in his second round to finish 18-over on the tournament. ⛳

GlobalPath and TechPath students visited Mercyhurst University’s School of Intelligence, Computing, and Global Politics. They were given the opportunity to experience lessons from some of the most acclaimed individuals in the fields. Students had a chance to learn about Mercyhurst’s Political Science, Intelligence Studies, and Cyber Security programs, and were granted a tour of the very impressive Center for Intelligence Research, Analysis, and Training (CIRAT) which included personal conversations/stories/lessons from some of Mercyhurst’s best educators. Sophomore, junior and senior MedPath students visited Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. today. Adrienne (Kloecker) Kalivoda ’12VMA gave a very spirited and engaging day-in-the-life of a funeral director lecture, and gave a detailed tour of the embalming process. She provided insights into grief management, bereavement support, estate settlement and the emotional aspects of healthcare, as well as the interdisciplinary collaboration between nurses, doctors, end of life care professionals, coroners and funeral directors. #Prep #MedPath

Cathedral Prep Weekend Athletics Roundup: • Football split their weekend matchups against Butler. On Homecoming, varsity rolled to a 54-7 victory over the Golden Tornado. Luke Costello threw a pair of touchdowns to Max Spence and Corey Allen. He also scored twice on the ground. Dajoure Hollingsworth and Charbel Latouf each had over 100 yards on the ground. Hollingsworth found the end zone three times, while Latouf had a score. JVs lost their game, 36-8. 🏈 • Boys water polo split their weekend at the Screamin’ Eagle tournament. The fell to host Cumberland Valley, 11-8, before defeating Exeter, 10-5. Callum Snider-Mills had nine total goals to lead the Ramblers. Owen Carson scored four times while, Colin Troutman had three goals. Dan Kubiak made nine saves in net. 🤽‍♂️ • Girls water polo also took part in the Screamin’ Eagle. Yesterday, members of our President’s Leadership Council enjoyed an evening at the Salata Technology & Innovation Center. Guests gathered while hearing about the latest school information from President Kevin Smith. Student speakers included senior Luke Costello ’24 and junior Julia Scrutchins ’25. Each provided a personal story of how attending Cathedral Prep has impacted their lives and thanked the group for supporting them and their fellow students. After the program portion of the evening, guests were able to tour the school. Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Thursday, October 12: • Three Rambler tandems competed in the District Ten Doubles tournament at Westwood Racquet Club yesterday. The pairings of Margaret Prichard/Paige Patsy and Sofia Falvo/Lilli Beuchert picked up victories in the first round, while Finleigh Handzel/Sophia Glance earned a bye. All three teams would win their second-round and quarterfinal matches. In the semifinals, Glance/Handzel defeated the tandem from Warren, while Prichard/Patsy defeated Falvo/Beuchert to advance to the AA Championship match. In a battle of the Ramblers, Glance/Handzel would take the title 7-6 (7-1), 6-3, over Prichard/Patsy. Congratulations, Finleigh 26 and Sophia 25! They are now Hershey bound! 🏆🎾 • Girls soccer split their doubleheader against Fort LeBoeuf. Varsity fell to the Bison, 6-2. Olivia Dixon and Brooklyn DiRaimo scored for the Ramblers.
