Students from the National Art Honor Society crafted a tree for this year’s Festival of Trees! This year’s tree carries the theme “Christmas in July,” and envisions a sunny beach day in Christmas tree form. The students hand painted a variety of ornaments featuring sea creatures, beach toys, picnic food, and surfboards. Students also hand made mini-wreaths out of pool noodles, and created garlands and a tree topper out of leis. Students had a great time decorating the tree at the Bayfront Convention Center, where this year’s Festival will run from Friday, November 29, through Sunday, December 1. Please stop by this weekend to see the beautiful trees and support the Children’s Miracle Network at AHN! #Prep #NAHS #FestivalofTrees 🎄🌴🐠🦩

Children’s Grief Awareness Day was created in 2008 by the Highmark Caring Place, a center for grieving children, adolescents, and their families. This day raises nationwide awareness of the painful impact that the death of a loved one has in the life of a child, and how we can support them. Yesterday, we supported those that are grieving by wearing blue and holding a school wide dress down day with all proceeds going to the Caring Place. Students had the opportunity to write a message of love, honor, or support on paper butterflies in memory of a loved one or to show support to those grieving. Therapy dogs snuggled up to students and staff during all three lunches and the cafeteria staff had tasty treats for sale all day. CC Bizzarro ’28, Samantha Dawley ’28, and Connor Smith ’28 also submitted artwork for the Caring Place Poster Contest and attended the Caring Place Summit, where they were recognized for their work. #ChildGriefDay #HereforEachOther 🦋
