We recently got notification that NWPA donated 17,725 boxes for Operation Christmas Child in December. Our Outreach Club was able to be part of that service, donating 50 boxes. That effort was further made possible by the donation of $500 by the Rotary Club of Erie to pay for the shipping costs. Outreach Club is so grateful for everyone's generosity! #Prep #Service

AP Seminar students have started working on their Performance Task 2. They must compose an argumentative paper based on extensive research on a research question they formulate from the provided stimulus materials. Last week, students participated in a Speed Dating activity. They met with each of their peers and shared their work in progress research questions and discussed specific qualities of their questions and their preliminary research. #Prep #APSeminar 📄

In September, six students auditioned to be in the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Eastern Region Honors Choirs. After submitting audio auditions to ACDA Eastern, three students were selected, and they have been preparing for ever since with Prep’s Choir Director Mr. Alesso. This past week, these three students worked on a challenging and engaging folder of music at the eastern regional convention in Providence, Rhode Island. Chris Reitz ’25 was in the SATB choir under the music direction of Dr. Felicia Barber, who teaches at Yale University. Lauren Proper ’26 and Tia Taylor ’25 were in the SSAA choir under the music direction of Dr. A. Jan Taylor, who teaches at Prairie View A&M University. This conference was themed around underrepresented composers, conductors, and musicians, especially highlighting women in music and the African American musical traditions and experiences. Our students learned great music with text and/or music by women, Spirituals, music by women of color, and meeting other singers from the 11 New England states in the ACDA Eastern Regional conference, and the eastern United States in the process. We are grateful for the support for these high-end experiences and endeavors for our music students! #Prep #HonorsChoir 🎶
