Corporal Rico Coletta of the PA State Police came to speak to MedPath students as part of their “Lunch & Learn” series yesterday. He spoke on the different drug classifications, their effect on the human body, and presented case studies. Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Tuesday, January 23: • Boys basketball split their doubleheader against McDowell. Overcoming a 13-point second half deficit, varsity rallied to defeat the Trojans, 64-60. Nando Mirarchi had 23 points to lead the Ramblers. Amaree Pickens had 16, while Michael Thompson finished with 13. The Ramblers also received lockdown defensive efforts from Ahmari Horton, RJ Roberts and Joey Spano. JVs dropped their matchup, 63-39. 🏀 • Varsity hockey picked up a 3-0 shutout over Central Catholic. Mathius Sprickman, Caleb Dacus, and Ethan Cunningham scored for the Ramblers. Tanner Ball had 31 saves to earn the shutout in net. 🏒

Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Monday, January 22: • Girls basketball picked up a sweep over General McLane. Varsity jumped out to a 45-11 lead at halftime and went on to defeat the Lancers, 56-26. Addie Biel led the way with 20 points. Jayden McBride had 15, while McKenna Valone had 12 points on four three-pointers. JVs earned a decisive 42-12 win. Mady Brzezinski had 16 points to lead the Ramblers, while Grace Orlando chipped in nine. 🏀 • Girls swimming & diving rolled to a 122-63 win over McDowell. Maria Costa, Jaslene Cage and Ellie Natemeier were quadruple winners. Costa set the school and pool records in the IM with a time of 2:05.69, breaking her own previous school mark by nearly a second and a half. She broke the pool record that was set three years ago by Megan Maholic. Kendal Johnston was a triple winner, while Josie Dufala won a pair of events. 🏊‍♀️ • Boys swimming & diving also picked up a victory over the Trojans, 103-80. He had a school-record ten three-pointers and a career-high 33 points. Amaree Pickens had 19 points, while the team hit 17 threes. JVs dropped their matchup, 47-40. Cathedral Prep Holiday Weekend Roundup: • Girls swimming and diving won the North East Invitational. The Ramblers went 1-2 in the medley relay. The team of Maria Costa, Jaslene Cage, Ellie Natemeier and Josie Dufala took first, while the team of Chloe Borrero, Ellie Brugger, Lindsay Armanini and Grace McCormick followed. Coster won the IM. Brugger took second, while Brianne Ryan finished fourth. Cage took second in the 50 free, while Dufala took third and Kendal Johnston took fourth. Natemeier took second in the 100 fly and 500 free. Johnston took second in the 100 free. The 200 free relay of Costa, Johnston, Dufala and Cage took first. Costa won the 100 backstroke, while Borrero took second. Cage won the 100 breaststroke. Brugger finished second. The 400 free relay of Johnston, Brugger, Borrero and Natemeier took first. Maria Costa was the MVP swimmer of the meet! 🏊‍♀️ • Varsity hockey took part in the Meadville Tournament. The Ramblers began the weekend with a 2-0 win over McDowell. Ryan Sorge and Ethan Cunningham scored, while Tanner Ball earned the shutout in net. They would go on to beat Peters Township, 2-0, in their second game. Joey Walter scored both goals, while Ball earned another shutout. In their third game, Prep defeated Findlay (OH), 4-1, to advance to the semifinals. Walter, Logan Taylor, Tucker Kinnear and Caleb Dacus scored. Ball earned another win in net. In the semifinals, the Ramblers defeated the host Bulldogs, 4-1. Braydan McGarry, Vinny Scalise, Chris Bruschi and Mathius Sprickman all scored. Ball made 28 saves to get the win in goal. They would fall in the championship to Peters Township, 1-0. 🏒 • Boys basketball was in action over the weekend. Varsity rallied to beat General McLane, 60-50, after trailing by as many as 12. Spencer Kanne had 15 to lead the way, while Amaree Pickens finished with 13. JVs dropped a pair of games, falling to the Lancers, 52-49, and Mercyhurst Prep, 63-53. 🏀 • Wrestling fell to Reynolds, 47-15.
