Cathedral Prep Weekend Athletics Roundup: • Boys basketball swept Meadville. Varsity defeated the Bulldogs, 66-61, in a back-and-forth tilt. Michael Thompson had 18 points to lead the Ramblers. Spencer Kanne had 12. Ahmari Horton had 11, while Sebastian Wofford finished with 10. JV picked up a 58-31 victory. Marco Pfister led the way with 12 points. Elijah Roberson had 10, while Max Santillan and Demario Smith each finished with nine. 🏀 • Boys swimming and diving defeated Canisius (NY), 144-32. Jack Raimy, Matthew Hinman, and Callum Snider-Mills each won four events. Owen Carson was a triple winner, while Andrew Dutchcot and Thomas Fortin each won a pair of events. Eddie Terrizzi won the diving competition. 🏊‍♂️ • Girls basketball split their doubleheader with Mt. Lebanon. Varsity fell to the Blue Devils, 52-27. Seana Thrower had 20 points and four steals to lead the way. JV remained undefeated with a 35-19 victory. Bella Scheloske finished with 16 points, while Kendyll Steves added eight points. 🏀 • Indoor track & field competed in the Spire Invitational. For the girls, Fina Bannister finished fifth in the 800. Anne-Catherine Brown took fourth in the 3200. Zita Schiedel followed in fifth, while Reagan Johnston took eighth. The 4x200 relay of De'Ziriana Page, Tamaria Knight, Danaya Allen, and Kayla Bogdanski finished in seventh place. The 4x80 relay of Allison Bender, Sophie Becker, Brown, and Bannister took firth. On the boys side, Roman Hamm took fifth in the 300. Declan Toohey took sixth in the 400. 👟

Andrew Gammon, Gabe Dorman, Bode Terry, Sam Harrington, Bo Martucci, Omar Arrington and Keagan Oler all won by fall, with Oler's pin coming just 10 seconds in. Mason Gregor won by tech fall, while Aiden Carter won by major decision. 🤼‍♂️

Grace DiGiacomo ’20VMA is a fifth-year physician assistant (PA) student who’s making a difference! Yesterday, she shared her journey to PA school and future aspirations with our students while delivering an eye-opening presentation on melanoma awareness. She discussed the impact of repeated sunburn, as well as the dangers of tanning beds. In addition, Grace gave smart ways to glow for prom without risking your skin’s health. #Prep

Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Tuesday, January 14: • Varsity hockey picked up a 5-2 victory over Bishop McCort. Tucker Kinnear had a hat trick. Chris Bruschi and Ethan Cunningham also scored. Cunningham had a pair of assists, while Bruschi, Charlie McBrier, Ian Brown, and Nick Pugne also had assists. Brown made 24 saves in net. 🏒

On their retreat in the fall, the freshmen class selected their class saint to be Saint Michael the Archangel. Andrea Garnica-Navarrete ’28 recently completed the portrait for the class, which will be hung in the Salata Technology & Innovation Center along with the other class saints. Kamdyn Borrero (126), Andrew Gammon (144), Gabe Dorman (150), Jaden Crockett (157), Brandon Byrd (165), and Sam Harrington (190) won by fall. Keagan Oler (138) and Amir Johnson (132) won by technical fall, while Mason Gregor (106) and Bo Martucci (175) won by major decision. Davion Edmond (120) won by decision, while Omar Arrington (215) and Max Spaulding (285) won by forfeit. They would win their second-round matchup against Westfield (VA), 70-3. Gregor, Aiden Carter (113), Edmond, Borrero, Gammon, Dorman, Corey Kowalski (215), and Spaulding won by fall. Natemeier took second in the 100 fly. Johnston won the 100 free. Natemeier won the 500 free. The 200 free relay of Costa, Aubrey Bender, Johnston, and Cage finished first. Costa won the 100 back, while Chloe Borrero finished second. Cage won the 100 breastroke, while Brianne Ryan finished third. The 400 free relay of Borrero, Ryan, Bender, and Natemeier took second. Costa was named Swimmer of the Meet. 🏊‍♀️ • Boys varsity basketball hosted the Burger King Classic. The Ramblers won their opening matchup over Aliquippa, 54-46. Nando Mirarchi had 23 points to lead all scorers. He also went 17-18 from the line, both Classic records. They would fall to Archbishop Wood in the championship game, 63-62. The Vikings hit a go-ahead three-pointer with under one second remaining to win. Mirarchi once again led Prep with 32 points. 🏀 • Girls varsity basketball fell to Laurel School (OH), 61-48. Addie Biel led the way with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Seana Thrower finished with 14 points and four assists. 🏀

Our students have had the amazing opportunity to shadow different doctors in our area. Hear from Joseph Ott ’26 on his experience! “During my visit with Dr. Kocan, I learned a ton about what is like in a day of the life of a radiologist. Dr. Kocan specializes is neuroradiology. Throughout my day, I learned about reading neuro x-rays, CT scans, CAT scans, and MRI scans. Dr. Kocan showed me different things to look for in a scan. He also told me that radiologists do procedures which I did not know. I was able to sit in on a Lumbar Myelogram, which was amazing to watch! Overall, my experience was outstanding!” #MedPath ⚕

Aubrey Bender and Kendal Johnston were triple winners. Brianne Ryan and Ellie Natemeier each won a pair of events. 🏊‍♀️ • Boys swimming and diving made it a sweep with their 134-26 win over the Dragons. Jack Raimy won three events. Callum Snider-Mills, Colin Troutman, Andrew Dutchcot, Adam Clark, and Ben Camera each won two events. Ed Terrizzi won the diving competition. 🏊‍♂️

After three seasons at the helm, Mike Krahe '00 is stepping down as Prep's head football coach. Krahe posted a 22-11 record and took the Ramblers to a pair of trips to the PIAA quarterfinals. "I want to express my deepest gratitude to the players and parents for the trust, support, and commitment you’ve shown throughout my tenure," Krahe said. "It has been an honor to be part of this program and to watch the growth of these young men, both on and off the field." Vice President of Athletics Bill Flanagan '87 said, "We are thankful and appreciative of the work Mike has put into this program over the last three years. He was extremely passionate and dedicated to the young men he interacted with each day." A search for a new head football coach will begin immediately.
