Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Thursday, October 3: • Wearing their Villa throwbacks, varsity girls soccer shutout Fairview, 7-0, on Senior Night. Olivia Dixon had four goals to lead the way. Brooklyn DiRaimo, Haley Stadler, and Sophia Stinson also scored. Jordan Senz earned the shutout in goal. ⚽ • Girls volleyball split their doubleheader against Fairview. Varsity swept the Tigers on Senior Night, 3-0. Kamryn Resurreccion had 30 assists and nine digs. Coco Speros had seven kills and eight digs. Carolina Krahe had nine digs, while Olivia Hutchinson finished with 14 kills. Ellen Hutchinson had five kills and five digs. Mackenzie Moore had eight digs, while Kharhys Nickson had six kills. JV lost, 2-0. 🏐 • Varsity hockey defeated Greater Latrobe, 4-2. Ethan Cunningham, Rylan Sorge, Jared Montagna, and Tucker Kinnear had goals for the Ramblers. Kinnear, Cunningham, and Mathius Sprickman each had a pair of assists. Sorge also had an assist. Ian Brown made 15 saves in net. 🏒 • Girls tennis fell to Western Reserve Academy (OH), 4-1. Paige Patsy got the lone win in singles. 🎾

Our seniors were up bright and early this morning to celebrate “Senior Sunrise” and kick off Spirit Week! The Class of 2025 met at the Hagerty Family Events Center before school to enjoy some doughnuts, play some games, and learn who is on Homecoming Court! Congratulations to seniors Lilli Beuchert, Kayla Bogdanski, Kylie Bruno, Devin Easter, Roman Hamm, Olivia Hutchinson, Spencer Kanne, Ava Lucarotti, Declan Toohey, and Taijoun Williams. The freshmen class was on retreat yesterday. They had a day of faith and community building. The day was filled with moments of getting to know each other better and getting to know Prep better. They also had the opportunity to participate in confession, Mass, and voted on their class saint! Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Wednesday, October 2: • Girls tennis won the Buhl Farm Invitational. The Ramblers 49 points bested second place Warren’s 28. Finleigh Handzel won first singles. Sophia Glance took the second singles tournament, while Laura Hetrick was runner-up in the third singles tournament. Eliza Kallner took the fourth singles tournament. The Ramblers also took three of the four doubles tournaments. Lilli Beuchert/Margaret Prichard won first doubles, while Lydia Beuchert/Katie Kuhar took the second doubles tournament. Sofia Giacomelli/Paige Simmerman won the fourth doubles tournament. 🎾 • Boys golf competed in the D-10 Individual Tournament at The Country Club of Meadville. Congratulations to Connor Laird, who finished second by just one stroke after shooting even par over two days. Teammate Cooper Wierzchowski finished at +3, good for fourth place. Both players qualified for the PIAA tournament at Penn State. ⛳ • Girls golf also competed in the D-10 Individual Tournament at The Country Club of Meadville. Cecelia Morgan finished 13th with a two-round score of 185. ⛳ • Boys soccer swept Harbor Creek. Varsity won their second Region game this week, shutting out the Huskies, 3-0. Max Johnson, Brandon Lin and Cam Dunbar netted the goals, while AJ Sirianni earned the shutout. JV earned a 1-0 shutout. Drew Johnson had the lone goal for the Ramblers. They captured the District 10 AA title with an eight-stroke victory over Saegertown at The Country Club of Meadville. Cooper Wierzchowski led the way with a 74. Connor Laird shot 76, while Sonny Washburn shot 78. Andrew Costello shot 83. Joseph Prichard rounded out the scores with an 87. The Ramblers will play in the PIAA team championships on October 23 at Penn State. Congratulations to Coach Keim ’80 and the team! ⛳🏆 • Hockey picked up a 5-2 over Bishop McCort in their first PIHL game of the season. Tucker Kinnear scored a pair. Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Monday, September 30: • Girls tennis defeated McDowell, 4-1. Paige Patsy, Finleigh Handzel and Sophia Glance all won in singles. In doubles, Lilli Beuchert/Margaret Prichard were victorious. 🎾 • Boys soccer swept Girard. Max Johnson set up a pair of goals to Ethan Cain and Esteban Millett as varsity downed the Yellow Jackets, 2-1, in Region action. JV picked up a 4-2 victory. Millett, Aron Nemeth, Nick Keichel, and Will Agresti all scored for the Ramblers. ⚽

Last Friday, Cathedral Prep AFJROTC went on a familiarization flight with the Ohio Air National Guard (OANG) out of Youngstown, Ohio. The OANG brought a C-130 to Erie International Airport and gave the cadets a ride to Sandusky, OH and back. The cadets were allowed to observe the crew in action in the cockpit and in the cargo section of the aircraft. While over Cedar Point, the crew opened the back of the jet and gave the cadets a bird’s eye view of the amusement park. A few lucky cadets were able to sit in the cockpit for takeoff and landing for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. A good time was had by all! #Prep ✈

Cathedral Prep Weekend Athletics Roundup: • Varsity boys soccer split their weekend of matchups in Lexington, KY. They dropped a tough one to Frederick Douglass (KY), 2-1. They would bounce back with a big 3-2 victory over Tates Creek (KY). ⚽ • Girls volleyball swept Nichols (NY). Varsity swept the Vikings, 3-0. Kamryn Resurreccion had six aces and 28 assists. Coco Speros had five digs. Carolina Krahe and Ellen Hutchinson had six kills each. Olivia Hutchinson finished with 12 kills. Kharhys Nickson had eight kills while Mackenzie Moore had nine digs. JV also picked up the sweep, 3-0. Jade Adams had 10 aces. Alaina Sambuchino had five aces. Ella Snippert had seven aces, while Gianna Lombardi had five assists. 🏐 • Girls cross country finished seventh in the Premier race of the McQuaid Invitational. Anne-Catherine Brown led the team with an eighth-place finish. Makayla Stutts was 26th. Reagan Johnston finished 47th, while Zita Schiedel took 48th. Sophie Becker finished 103rd. 👟 • Boys cross country also competed at McQuaid. James Burkett placed 15th overall. Noah Lata was 26th. Senior MedPath students were invited to participate in the UPMC Hamot Nursing Symposium yesterday. They were introduced to the look and feel of continuing education credits and professional networking. Students heard life-changing testimonials about the importance of organ donation and heard from Erie’s pioneer kidney transplant team. They took away concrete tools to aid with mental health and mindfulness for those that are tasked with caring for others. #Prep #MedPath

AFJROTC cadets learned about military and college opportunities at Gannon University today from special guest speakers from Gannon’s Army ROTC program. We were thankful to have alumni and former AFJROTC cadets Alex Purchase ’19 and Alex Little ’24 back in the building to speak today! #Prep

The cadets of Cathedral Prep’s JROTC unit filled in a last-minute request to conduct the color guard at the Erie SeaWolves’ Eastern League Championship playoff game yesterday. The always reliable cadets performed flawlessly for the home crowd and inspired the Seawolves to victory! #Prep ⚾

Coco Speros had five kills and six digs, while Mackenzie Moore had seven digs. They fell to Strongsville (OH) in their second match, 2-0. Resurreccion had 17 assists. Speros had nine digs, while Olivia Hutchinson had nine kills. Moore finished with nine digs. Kharhys Nickson had eight kills. The Ramblers closed their weekend with a tough loss to Walsh Jesuit (OH), 2-0. Resurreccion had 17 assists and seven digs. Speros and Hutchinson had five and seven kills, respectively.
