Amir Johnson (121), Keagan Oler (127), Andrew Gammon (133), Sam Staab (139), Owen Shetler (172) and Clay Mallory (189) all had pins for the Ramblers. Aiden Carter (107) and Brandon Byrd (145) also scored decisions. 🤼‍♂️ • Bowling picked up a 16.5-11.5 victory over Erie High. Elena Kacprowicz had the high game of 184 and high series of 529. Kacprowicz and Ava Hensler each earned 4 points by sweeping their opponents. The girls take on Mercyhurst next week. 🎳

They organized the words into different categories based off how the words are related to each other. Varsity picked up a 61-52 victory over the Royals in their Region opener. Jake Sambuchino led the way with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Amaree Pickens finished with 15 points, while Zion Barksdale had 10 rebounds. JVs picked up a 67-34 victory. Freshmen basketball fell to Hickory, 58-48. KyZir Rowan led the Ramblers with 25, while Natavion Tenon added 15. 🏀 • Varsity hockey picked up a big victory over Canon-McMillan, 6-2. Mathius Sprickman had two goals. Layne Eliason, Brayden Sprickman, Connor Eubank and Rylan Sorge also scored. Tanner Ball was in net to make 22 saves. 🏒

Cathedral Prep Holiday Weekend Athletics Roundup: • Wrestling competed in the prestigious Powerade Tournament at Canon-McMillan. Sam Staab (133) finished 4-2 on the tournament, making it to the fifth Consolation round. Xavier Domkowski (139) scored a pair of pins. Kegan Oler (121), Bo Martucci (152) and Jaden Crockett (160) also won consolation matches. 🤼‍♂️ • JV Hockey competed in the 26th annual PA Hockey Scholastic Showcase. The Ramblers finished 3-2 in the tournament. They began with a 7-3 win over Thomas Jefferson. Nico Vavala had a pair of goals. Brady Sack, Rylan Sorge, Braydan McGarry and Tucker Kinnear also found the net. Ian Brown got the win in net. They would fall to North Allegheny, 4-0, before defeating Penn Trafford, 5-1. Ashton Duchini had a hat trick. Henry Fritts and Noah Diley each had a goal. Brown again picked up the win in goal. They defeated Pine-Richland in the semifinals, 8-4. Vavala had a hat trick, while Caleb Dacus scored a pair. Vinny Scalise, Sorge and Braydan Mcgarry also scored. Brown scored another victory in net. The Ramblers fell in the championship to North Allegheny, 2-1. 🏒 • LATE THURSDAY: Boys basketball took on St. Ignatius (OH) in a doubleheader. JVs fell to the Wildcats, 58-49. Varsity captured the Blue Division of the KSA Tournament in Orlando with a 57-47 win over Pingree (MA). Amaree Pickens had 14 points and was named Co-MVP of the tourney, along with Jake Sambuchino who had 11. Tavion Spencer added 12 points for a Rambler team that finished 3-0 in Florida. Freshmen basketball fell to McDowell, 49-40. Owen Haffey and KyZir Rowan each had 14 to pace the Ramblers. 🏀 • Girls basketball swept Fairview. Varsity outscored Fairview 31-5 in the second half to win 52-18. Jayden McBride had 12 points to lead the way. Lena Walz added 11. McKenna Valone and Ava Lucarotti finished with nine and eight, respectively. Prep is 6-0 on the season and will play in the national bracket of the KSA Holiday Tournament in Orlando next week. JVs defeated Fairview, 49-12. Natalie Spano led the way with 17 points. Leah Major scored nine, while Katherine McCormick chipped in eight. Mari Sanders had seven. 🏀 • Girls swimming & diving picked up a big win over Mercyhurst Prep, 123-32. Ellie Natemeier won four events for the Ramblers. Congratulations to Prep senior Luke Brown '23. He has verbally committed to run next season at George Mason University in cross country and track & field on scholarship. Brown was one of the top runners in cross country in District 10 the past two seasons. He has also been a state medalist, a District champion and individual champion at major invitationals. Last Friday, Show Choir visited St. Joseph Apartments to help serve and clean up at their annual Christmas party. Cathedral Prep Weekend Athletics Roundup: • Wrestling hosted the Rambler Duals at the Joann Mullen Gymnasium. The Ramblers finished 3-1 on the weekend. Their first win came over St. Joe’s (NY), 60-15. Xavier Domkowski (139), Brandon Byrd (145), Bo Martucci (152), Jaden Crockett (160), Owen Shetler (172), Isaiah Harrick (189) and Max Spaulding (215) all scored pins for Prep. They would then take their second match, besting Edgewood (OH), 58-3. Andrew Gammon (127), Sam Staab (133), Domkowski, Martucci, Harrick and Amir Johnson (114) all had pins. Keagan Oler (121) and Aiden Carter (107) earned falls, while Crockett scored a decision. They would then defeated South Fayette, 42-24. Staab, Byrd, Crockett, Shetler (189), Harrick (215) and Johnson all had pins. The Ramblers would fall in the championship to St. Ed’s (OH), 34-33. Shetler, Johnson, Staab and Gammon scored pins. Byrd earned a decision. 🤼‍♂️ • Boys swimming took third overall at the Viking Invitational at Cleveland State University. The 200 medley relay of Jack Raimy, Matt Hinman, Aidan Levis, Mitchell Bradford finished second. Bradford finished fourth in the 200 IM. Levis took second in the 100 fly. Bradford won the 100 back, while Raimy and Levis took second and fifth, respectively. The 400 free relay placed third behind Raimy, Owen Carson, Levis and Bradford. 🏊‍♂️ • Girls swimming also took part in the Viking Invitational, finishing sixth. Haley Palmer placed fifth in the 50 free and the 100 free. In the 100 back, Maria Costa took fourth. The 200 medley relay finished fifth with Costa, Kyan Snider-Mills, Ellie Natemeier and Palmer. 🏊‍♀️ • Boys freshmen basketball fell to Boardman (OH), 42-31.
