Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Thursday, August 8:
• Boys golf kicked off the fall sports season by winning the Happy Valley Invitational by seven strokes. Connor Laird and Cooper Wierzchowski each tied for third at one-under par. Santino Washburn placed sixth. Joseph Prichard was 13th, while Andrew Costello finished 19th. ⛳
• Girls golf also began their season in State College. They finished third overall in the Happy Valley Invitational. Emily Dudenhoeffer tied for sixth overall. Claire Williams finished 11th, while Cecelia Morgan took 13th. ⛳
Mallory Fischer (MK Fischer) ’21VMA will be performing in concert next Tuesday, August 13, at 8 Great Tuesdays! She will be the opening act for the Turnstiles, a Billy Joel Tribute Band. Be sure to go the Highmark Amphitheater at Liberty Park to catch her concert from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Mallory just graduated from Belmont University with a music degree in songwriting with a minor in music business. Late in the year, National Art Honor Society (NAHS) held a dress down to raise money for the Neighborhood Art House. On Wednesday, NAHS President Adrienne Catrabone ‘25 and Secretary Ava Hensler ’25 met with Neighborhood Art House Executive Director Kelly Stolar. After getting a tour of the facility and learning about the services that the Art House provides, they presented a donation for $1691. Cheerleading traveled to Struthers, Ohio to participate in a three-day Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Camp this week! They learned new material and won several awards! #RollRamblers 📣

Congratulations to Justin Yochim ’25, Gavin Fried ’25, and Christopher Reitz ’25. They recently graduated from Keystone Boys State, a week-long American Legion leadership development program. The week-long summer experience, which was held at Messiah University, focused on civics and leadership development. We are happy to share that the Erie Sports Commission has awarded Cathedral Prep’s Hagerty Family Events Center (HFEC) a Facility Match Funds Grant in the amount of $3,000. The grant money will be used to help fund new floor runners in the Joann Mullen Gymnasium so the entire area of the floor can now be covered. HFEC will now be able to accommodate adequate space to host a premier gymnastics competition, additional Cathedral Prep events, and other various athletic/social events and nonprofit fundraisers. We want to thank Executive Director Mark Jeannette and the whole Erie Sports Commission for selecting us as a recipient of these funds! #Prep

Today was graduation day for cadets in the Class of 2028 who participated in Cathedral Prep AFJROTC's Zero Week Academy. Zero Week, a cadet-run program, introduces the fundamentals of followership, integrity, and teamwork. After finishing the three-day camp, they now await the start of school this coming August to show off their promotions to Cadet Airman. Congratulations cadets! #Prep #AFJROTC
Last Wednesday, our athletic department offered free physicals for our student-athletes. This was only possible thanks to the generous donation of the time and expertise of volunteer medical professionals, most of whom are Prep and Villa alumni and/or parents of students. We would like to thank the 14 physicians, 10 nurses/athletic trainers who provided over 215 students with a free physical for the 2024-2025 athletic year! #Physicals

Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Monday, June 3:
• Baseball dropped their PIAA first round game to Montour, 5-2. Nick Jackson and Luke Costello drove in the Ramblers’ lone runs. They closed out their season with a record of 19-4. ⚾
• Softball fell in the PIAA first round game to Chartiers Valley, 6-1. Paige Simmerman, Madison Simmerman, and Emalie Thomas had hits for the Ramblers. 🥎
• Boys lacrosse had their season come to a close in the first round of the PIAA playoffs. They lost to South Fayette, 15-4. Nate Klan and Jameson Hertel each had a pair of goals. 🥍
The MVP Music Department recently held their last concert of the school year. There were outstanding performances by the Show Choir, Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Percussion Ensemble. Also, students were inducted into the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Senior, junior, and sophomore music students who had an A-average in their music classes, and a cumulative QPA of 3.0 in all their classes, were inducted. Finally, senior members were recognized for their dedication and leadership to the program. It was a great night of music! #Prep #MVP #Music 🎶🎺🥁

🥎 Softball looks to extend their softball season today at 1:00 p.m. at Penn State Behrend. They take on Chartiers Valley in round one of the PIAA playoffs.
⚾ Baseball matches up with Montour for a second straight season at Mercyhurst University in round one of the PIAA baseball playoffs. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
🥍 Boys lacrosse kicks off the PIAA playoffs at Dollinger Field at 7:30 p.m. They take on South Fayette in their first-round matchup.
