Financial Aid

We are dedicated to serving a diverse student population and strive to make a Cathedral Prep education affordable for all qualified students. We believe that a Catholic education from Cathedral Prep is an investment in a student’s future, and we appreciate your trust in us to provide an invaluable foundation for a successful journey. That’s why we are proud to offer financial aid opportunities through both need-based tuition assistance and a number of scholarship opportunities to our students.

Need-based Tuition Assistance

Tuition assistance refers to funds available for qualified students based on their family’s financial need. Financial need is the difference between the estimated cost of tuition and the estimated family contribution. This evaluation is made yearly because the process considers many factors that can change from year to year.  The size of the award is determined by factors such as income, assets, liabilities, family size, and number of dependent siblings in college or private schools. All students applying to Cathedral Prep can apply for need-based tuition assistance through two primary sources:

  • Cathedral Prep Financial Aid (APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MARCH 1): Cathedral Prep grants need-based awards ranging from $250 to $5,000. Families must apply using FACTS between January 1 and March 1. Applications received AFTER March 1 will not be considered for tuition assistance awards.

  • Diocese of Erie Financial Aid (APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MARCH 1): The Erie Diocese grants awards to Cathedral Prep students from the Bishop Assistance plan and from the STAR Foundation. These awards can be up to $500 and are separate from Cathedral Prep financial aid. Diocesan financial aid applications must be submitted directly to the Diocese by March 1.

**Cathedral Prep and the Diocese of Erie begin mailing or emailing award letters to accepted students in early April.**

Tuition assistance is also available through a number of other organizations in our community.  This list includes but is not limited to GECAC, Junior Achievement, local parishes, and many other community organizations. Contact the Enrollment Management Team at 814-453-7737, Ext. 3, or at enrollment@cathedralprep.com for more information about these opportunities.

Scholarships

Cathedral Prep offers several scholarships, which are merit-based upon the student meeting the requirements for each one. Full descriptions and applications for each scholarship can be found by clicking the button below.

**Updated scholarship applications will be posted on our website in January of each year.**
