8th Grade Honors Program
(Note: $10.46 processing fee applies)
OVERVIEW
Eligible students in 8th grade can take freshmen level Math and Science courses at Cathedral Prep. Courses will count for grade school graduation requirements and high school credit and will position students on an accelerated academic track to take Advanced Placement, Gannon University, and University of Pittsburgh courses as a junior and senior in high school.
REQUIREMENTS
Students must maintain a “B” average or better in the courses they wish to take, score in the upper 40th percentile of the NWEA MAP Test, and have the recommendation of their grade school principal. Any questions regarding eligibility should be directed to the grade school principal. 8th Grade Honors Program students must consistently achieve a minimum of a “B” average in their courses, or they will be required to return to their grade school.
COURSES
Students may select to take both Math and Science courses. Both courses are Honors level. Students will be issued an iPad for use in all courses.
TUITION
The tuition for 2024-2025 is $340 for up to two courses and the issuance of an iPad.

Cathedral Preparatory School is a college preparatory secondary schools operated under the authority of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Erie, and fully accredited by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Students who are not Catholic are welcome to attend and participate fully in the 8th Grade Honors Program.
